Dollar Industries Limited joined hands with the Government of West Bengal and executed a free vaccination drive for its employees and their family members. Keeping in mind the health and safety of its employees and their families, Dollar’s vaccination drive provided first dose vaccines to approximately 1500 people. The drive was organised across three locations – Dollar’s Head Office in Kolkata, Barasaat and Agarpara manufacturing units.
Dollar Foundation, the CSR wing of Dollar Industries Limited celebrated Women’s Day by supporting the noteworthy cause of menstrual hygiene. As a part of its #BeFreeBeYou campaign, Dollar distributed 2000 packets of sanitary napkins amongst women dwelling in slum areas across the city. The areas are Topsia, Tangra, Beliaghata, Baghbazar, Sovabazar, Nimtala, Tollygunge, Swabhumi, Ultadanga and Phoolbagan. This thoughtful initiative is an extension of their #BeFreeBeYou campaign that aims to improve the menstrual hygiene of underprivileged women. With this initiative, Dollar Industries Limited believes they will be able to take a step forward in undoing the myths and malpractices surrounding menstruation, thereby improving menstrual hygiene and empowering women to live healthier, longer and fuller lives.
Dollar Industries Limited, has joined hands with Metro Rail Authority (DMRA) to contribute and install water kiosks across 22 metro stations to provide hygienic drinking water for all. Dollar Industries Limitedhas always been a responsible corporate and firmly believes in fulfilling our duties towards the society. Water is one of the driving forces for humanity and the initiative will positively impact the lives of thousands of commuters every day. We planto cover major metro cities such as Chennai, Jaipur, Nagpur and Lucknow once we are through with the Delhi project. In its second phase, Dollar plans to cover at least 100 more metro stations in New Delhi over a span of 8 months.
As a part of Dollar’s corporate social responsibility, Dollar Foundation donated 2000 pieces of anti-viral masks to the frontline heroes at CRPF and CISF in New Delhi. Dollar has launched its anti-viral range of masks and innerwear for men, in association with HealthGuard, Australia. The COVID-19 has taken the country by storm and in distressing times like these,our warriors at CRPF and CISF have taken the initiative of collaboration within communities by maintaining vigilance in the form of law and order during the lockdown. As a virtuous Indian, we salute the frontline COVID warriors for their paramount and indispensable services. As a small gesture of respect Dollar Industries Limited, shared their newly introduced anti-viral masks to the Central Industrial Reserve Force (CISF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to support our fight against the virus.
During COVID-19 pandemic, Dollar Industries Limited pledged to contribute to the society through its CSR initiative and welfare programmes. To fulfil its corporate social obligation, Dollar Foundation joined hands with Kolkata Police and distributed food and medical equipment to the underprivileged across 60 wards. The company distributed 6,000 Kgs of rice, 40,000 packets of biscuits, 40,000 masks and 10,000 soap bars to the people in need amid nationwide lockdown. Additionally, the company is providing food and shelter to 300 migrant workers at their manufacturing unit at Tirupur during lockdown.
On 17th November 2019, Dollar Foundation hosted its first ever plog run in Tirupur - an initiative to support and raise funds for ‘Treatment of Cancer Patients’ and to adopt green practices. Focusing on the core values of ‘Green India, Fit India’, the initiative witnessed over 3500 participants who ran and also picked up dry waste along the route, that were handed over to the Dollar team. Additionally, certificates, medals and organic shopping bags were given out to first 2000 participants. The plog run was flagged off from A.V. P. Trust Senior Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, Tirupur, in the presence of Mr. Binay Kumar Gupta, Managing Director, Mr. Bajrang Kumar Gupta, Whole-time Director, Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Vice President, and Ms. Pallavi Gupta, Vice President, from Dollar Industries Ltd. along with Hon’ble District Collector, Hon’ble Commissioner of Police and Hon’ble Commissioner - Corporation, Tirupur.
In many parts of India, menstruation is still a taboo but Dollar Industries Limited took the initiative to break the ice. Girls from low socio-economic classes still shy away from talking about the subject and some even refer to it as a ‘problem’. Dollar Industries Limited, in association with SEED (Society for Socio Economic and Ecological Development) launched the #BeFreeBeYou campaign as a part of the company’s CSR initiative. The campaign aimed to improve the menstrual hygiene of underprivileged girls, where sanitary napkin vending machines were installed in Government schools across West Bengal. The first phase of the campaign witnessed an installation of 100 sanitary napkin vending machines across Kolkata & Sub-urban areas. These machines provided good quality sanitary napkins at a nominal cost.
Dollar Industries Ltd. initiated a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activity starting 3rd May 2017 to serve people with fresh cold drinking water to cap the Kolkata heat and remain hale and hearty. Starting from Dumdum Police Station area and Dumdum Private Road Bus Stand area, 26 water huts were inaugurated by the Chairman of Dollar Industries Limited, Shree Din Dayal Gupta at different regions of Kolkata. On 25th January, 2018, 15 Water Huts were set up by Dollar Industries Limited across various location of Bhubaneswar as well. Dollar has also provided Blue Star Water Cooler machine to Sidharth United Social Welfare Mission Orphanage located at Chinar Park, Teghoria and Kamardanga Police Station.
Contribution towards society has been an integral part of Dollar's life since its foundation. And we constantly thrive to serve people and society through our regular endeavours.
On World Environment Day, Dollar Industries Limited in association with SEED organized an awareness program with the children of socially excluded Lodha Community in Sagar Island. Lodha community has been designated as the vulnerable primitive tribal community of India by the Government of India. Due to their social status, the Lodha children are not allowed to be a part of primary education in mainstream schools by other local communities of Sagar Island. It was a matter of rejoice that we provided them with school aids like bags and writing materials to encourage them to study and to spread some happiness.
As a part of company’s CSR initiative, Dollar Industries Limited celebrated Children's Day with underprivileged children who reside in footpath of Gariahat area in Kolkata,in association with an NGO called 'Prachesta'. A small arrangement of food along with cake and little goodies, helped us make their day special. It was a pleasure to be able to spread some joy and positivity.
Dollar Industries Ltd. organized The Kolkata Half Marathon-The Royal Bengal Run, in association with Amity. It was one of the flagship events in the City of Joy on 5th February, 2012. Dollar Industries Limited took pride in this association to support the cause of supporting underprivileged little angels of Amitasha, by transforming their lives through free education, meals, books, uniforms and holistic care.
